This project embraced the theme of adaptive reuse by transforming the ruins of an old church into a multifunctional community space. Located ina quaint fishing village on the North East Coast of England, this project south to invigorate local community life by creating a center that marries religious heritage with communal gathering. The site, characterized by its foundational stone base of the former church and a sloping terrain
facing the Tyne River, represented unique challenges, notably in accessibility. The concept was to harmoniously blend the sacred atmosphere of the original church with flexible spaces for social interaction and community events, while fostering an atmosphere surrounded by nature. Thereby offering a sanctuary for both spiritual reflection and communal engagement in this scenic coastal setting.
